Section 117 guidance

New guidance on Section 117 of the Mental Health Act has been published (April) from the two Ombudsmen bodies who deal with complaints across health and social care. It states: ‘The guidance includes realistic, proportionate and practical recommendations for councils and Clinical Commissioning Groups to make improvements and avoid the mistakes of others.’

It is also designed to account for issues arising with the abolition of CCGs in July this year and their replacement with Integrated Care Boards (ICB).
