The Court of Protection has recently issued a case highlighting the evolving and changing nature of best interests. The case concerns a 25 year old woman with a mild learning disability, Asperger's Syndrome and epilepsy. Over a period of five years the Court has made a series of rulings including:
1.The woman should be removed from living with her mother
2.All contact between the woman and her mother should be stopped
3.Covert hormone treatment should be given to the woman
4.Contact between the woman and her mother should be re-introduced
5.The woman should be returned to live with her mother (the most recent case)
