The College states it is extremely concerned by the use of 'Excited Delirium' and 'Acute Behavioural Disturbance (ABD)' as diagnoses or syndromes and does not support the use of such terminology as it has no empirical evidential basis. The statement goes on to say that '..ABD has been used in a number of high-profile cases, to explain why a person has died under restraint.'
