House of Commons, H&SC committee report on the treatment of autistic people and people with LD

On 13 July 2021, the House of Commons, Health and Social Care committee produced a report on the treatment of autistic people and people with learning disabilities. It states: ‘The evidence we received demonstrated that current levels of provision for community services are totally inadequate. Many witnesses told us that this has resulted in autistic people and people with learning disabilities being avoidably admitted to inpatient settings where, too often, they do not receive the support they require ...’

The government responded a week later by announcing a new national strategy for autistic children, young people, and adults 2021-2026.
