Tam Gill
Tam is a mental health solicitor, with a specialism in forensic mental health law. She is ranked in Chambers & Partners as a Band 1 lawyer for mental health and was Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year for Disability Rights in 2024. She is the Principal of a mental health practice and the current President of the Mental Health Lawyers Association and in this capacity regularly makes representations to various agencies and stakeholders regarding developments in the field of mental health law,and practice including responding to consultation processes on behalf of the MHLA. Tam also holds the role of a Law Society Mental Health Scheme assessor. Tam was appointed as a fee paid judge of the First tier Tribunal (Mental Health) in 2021. She regularly delivers training in mental health law and practice to mental health practitioners including lawyers, psychiatrists and nursing staff and is a visiting lecturer at the Brighton and Sussex Medical School.
