The challenges of assessing mental capacity

The findings of a national survey of health and social care professionals looking at assessing mental capacity has recently been published. 611 professionals including social workers, nurses, doctors, psychologists and solicitors responded. The research authors highlight a range of practical issues and challenges that professionals face in using the Act.
