Goodbye CCGs and hello to the CQC inspecting adult social services!

Updated: Sep 1, 2021

15 July 2021, the Health and Care Bill is currently going through Parliament and if it follows a similar journey to the Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) would become law early next year. It would however probably come into effect immediately to allow for the end of CCGs in 2022.

The House of Commons Library has produced a detailed and useful guide to the bill and the legal clauses within it including: ‘Clause 121 of the Bill provides for the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to be placed under a duty to assess local authorities’ delivery of their adult social care functions under Part 1 of the Care Act 2014'
