We are delighted to announce that former Court of Protection judge, Prof. Anselm Eldergill is returning to Edge Training and Consultancy as a legal trainer and consultant, delivering training on the Court of Protection from January 2025, to front line health and social care staff.
Prof. Eldergill is an instantly recognisable name in mental health and mental capacity law, with an exemplary legal career spanning nearly four decades. He has presided over some of the most well known Court of Protection cases such as Westminster City Council v Sykes [2014] EWCOP B9 in which he focused on the wishes, beliefs, and values of the incapacitated person at the centre of the case when he said: MS’s personality is a critical factor. She has always wished to be heard. She would wish her life to end with a bang not a whimper. This is her last chance to exert a political influence which is recognisable as her influence. Her last contribution to the country's political scene and the workings and deliberations of the council and social services committee which she sat on.
As a former legal trainer for Edge, Prof. Eldergill is also highly skilled in delivering complex legal topics in a way that is accessible and memorable for course delegates and we are delighted to welcome him back. Prof. Eldergill's full CV is here.
