New research published on 9th February highlights the significant variations in the proper application of the Mental Capacity Act during the pandemic. The authors of the report spoke to people they describe as 'capacity professionals' such as BIAs, IMCAs and RPRs working in or with care homes. One of the key findings was that '..participants reported a ‘massive discrepancy’ between the ways different care homes balanced the risk of COVID-19 infection with the risks associated with severe restrictions.'
