About the Event:

Please note this course has not been designed for health/social care staff. Places are limited and free places are only being offered to families or informal carers that are non health/social care professionals. If you are (also) a health or social care professional- please speak to your employer to request Mental Health Act training or view our range of courses designed for professionals.

We are hosting a new free course for families and informal carers covering the Mental Health Act. The course will be run by our trainer Christine Hutchison. The course will provide an overview of the Mental Health Act and peoples rights.

Please note this is a half day Event which will focus on the Mental Health Act. By necessity, it will focus on people’s legal rights when admitted to psychiatric hospital, detained under the Mental Health Act (sometimes referred to as ‘sectioned’) or living in the community under the Mental Health Act powers (Community Treatment Orders often referred to as CTOs, guardianship or conditional discharge).

It is most likely to be of relevance to you if you or someone you care for has experienced being detained under the Mental Health Act in hospital or living in the community on a CTO, guardianship or conditional discharge,  and would benefit from knowing more about your legal rights under the Mental Health Act.
