About the Event:
Please note this course has not been designed for health/social care staff. Places are limited and free places are only being offered to families or informal carers that are non health/social care professionals. If you are (also) a health or social care professional- please speak to your employer to request Mental Health Act training or view our range of courses designed for professionals.
We are hosting a new free course for families and informal carers covering the Mental Health Act. The course will be run by our trainer Christine Hutchison. The course will provide an overview of the Mental Health Act and peoples rights.
The course will cover:
Who- does it apply to?
How- does it work?- what is the process for admission to hospital, discharge from hospital and community options under the Mental Health Act.
What rights do people have under the Mental Health Act? ( this will include details on the Nearest relative)
The group size will be limited so that those attending can ask questions about their own circumstances in an informal setting and in confidence (Edge sessions are not recorded).
