AMHP Legal Update 14 March 2022

Aims

The main aim is to give AMHPs an opportunity to update their legal knowledge and skills regarding work under the Mental Health Act 1983. This update has a focus on practice dilemmas arising from the pandemic as well as case law developments.  At the end of the course AMHPs should have a better understanding of:

• possible changes to the Mental Health Act;

• the Court of Appeal decision on the Worcestershire case and s117 of the MHA;

• when restrictions become a deprivation of liberty;

• nearest relative issues;
