DoLS for AMHPs
Deprivation of Liberty on mental health wards, outside of the Mental Health Act has become an increasingly important issue due to developing case law. This course explores the concept of Deprivation of Liberty & the Safeguards from the perspective of the AMHP role.
DoLS Awareness (Half or Full Day)
An introduction to the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards designed to enable staff to recognise the key issues and triggers that may indicate a deprivation of liberty. The course also explains the key terms and processes under DoLS
DoLS, Guardianship and Community Treatment Orders
This course aims to consider and contrast each of these powers.
DoLS & Human Rights (Half or Full Day)
Examines the impact of the Human Rights Act 1998 on the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and explores key linked issues.
Please Note: requires prior basic knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 including the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
DoLS Legal Update (Half or Full Day)
There is a substantial and growing body of case law on DoLS and this course provides a means for key staff, who are not BIA assessors, to keep informed.
DoLS in Practice (Half or Full Day)
This course considers the duties of care homes and hospitals once a person is under DoLS. What they need to do to meet statutory, Code of Practice and CQC standards will be covered in detail.
Please Note: requires prior basic knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 including the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
DoLS Signatories (Half or Full Day)
Guidance for those signing or approving authorisations. The course covers the functions and responsibilities of DoLS signatories and includes a practical look at scrutiny of the DoLS forms.
