On 3 August 2022, the CQC rated Impact Medical Ltd, inadequate (special measures). It is a private medical provider delivering shockwave therapy (for treatment of kidney stones) for NHS and private patients. The inspection report highlights a number of issues including the need to obtain and record consent properly: ‘Staff did not support patients to make informed decisions about their care and treatment. They did not follow national guidance to gain patients’ consent or know how to support patients who lacked capacity or were experiencing mental ill health to make their own decisions.’
